• Why should I choose Plymouth Orthopaedic and Sports Injury Clinic?

We are a group of like-minded individuals who all hold NHS Consultant posts at Plymouth University Hospitals and the Peninsula Major Trauma Centre. We use the latest investigations and techniques to provide the best treatment available, while also ensuring that each individual patient is at the heart of everything we do.

  • How do I make an appointment to see a specialist?

    Please phone 01752 702 096 or email: info@plymouthorthopaedic.com

  • When are your clinics held?

The Plymouth Orthopaedic specialists run clinics on most weekdays including early morning and evening appointments - ring or email for availability.

  • Where are your clinics held?

All Plymouth Orthopaedic and Sports Injury Clinics are held to the Plymouth Nuffield Hospital, Derriford Road, Plymouth PL6 8BG.

All our specialists also work for the NHS at University Hospitals Plymouth and hold clinics at Derriford Hospital as well as a number of peripheral clinics around Devon and Cornwall.

  • I am a private patient - how can I be referred?

If you are paying for treatment yourself, you do not need a formal referral, although information about your previous treatment from your GP can be very helpful when discussing and planning your treatment.

If you have private healthcare insurance, you should check with them before making an appointment: some insurers insist on a referral from your GP and you will need an authorisation code.

  • I am a NHS patient - how can I be referred?

Plymouth Orthopaedic specialists also see selected NHS patients - you should discuss this with your GP and ask for a "named consultant only" referral.

  • Will my private healthcare insurance cover all of my costs?

Unlike most consultants operating in the private sector, all Plymouth Orthopaedic specialists are "fee assured" with most insurers: this means that all of the costs of your treatment should be covered. Very occasionally some insurance companies will not fund certain procedures or investigations, so it is always a good idea to confirm this with them before starting treatment, as outstanding fees will remain your responsibility.

  • How much will my consultation and treatment cost?

Fees vary between specialists and depend on time taken and complexity.

We believe in being completely transparent about our prices and will always tell you in advance the costs of any treatment or investigation we recommend so there should be no nasty surprises at the end of the month!
